When I was a teenager, my idol was Jim Morrison of The Doors. By then I had been writing for years already, but Jim’s words danced out of the page and penetrated my brain making my desire to write even more conspicuous. I wrote a lot of poetry back then and they were good! I remember impressing my English teacher with some of my poems. I wanted to be a writer just like Jim Morrison.

As a tribute to my teenage idol, I decided to make an album with my favourite songs from Moonlight Drive to Peace Frog, Spanish Caravan and Horse Lattitudes among others. But my ultimate favourite is An American Prayer:

“Is everybody in? Is everybody in? Is everybody in? The ceremony is about to begin. The entertainment for this evening is not new, you’ve seen this entertainment through and through you’ve seen your birth, your life, your death….you may recall all the rest. Did you have a good world when you died? -enough to base a movie on?”

I think that last sentence has been my life motto. Did you have a good world when you died? Enough to bas a movie on? Or write a book about? Wither way, live life to the fullest, do what you love and love what you do.
