OMG! Life is finally smiling at me. After twelve years of being sick, trying to figure out what’s wrong with me, then trying to find the right medication and doses until I can live “normally” again and not like a zombie. After three years of courses about self-confidence and self-esteem (because that goes out the window when you’re home sick for years), and another two years in school (I finish in May!), I have been offered an internship where all my talents and skills will be used. The man who will be my boss put me in contact with his wife whose business name is very human. For her, I will contribute my writing talent. For him, event planning and graphic design.

After my last two jobs all those years ago, I had developed a fear of working for others. Having been manipulated, used and taken advantage of by my last bosses put me in a state where I never wanted to work for anyone else ever again. This man, who teaches us Web, put me in a safe space the minute I met him. I applied at five different places for internships, but I never thought this man would offer me the position. I am so grateful. So blessed.

The best thing about this internship is that I truly believe I have found my tribe. The fear of working for someone else is gone. I want to contribute with all my heart as I always do, knowing that I am in a safe place, that my work will be recognized and that I will be appreciated.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
